Thou* won* only a few of this vast number from other conimuml ics. The great majority are girls and hoys from Monesseii homes. They have reached the age that makes them eligible for positions in office*. business, or industry. VVe‘ are wondering whether our community will do theK'jtiure tiling by these 'young men and women who are ambitious to get into paying jxwsitioiif',Some naturally will enter higher institutions of learning. hut this number will be small in comparison with the total graduating elans. AVe have' built here costly educational centers. Just recently we dedicated a Vocational school building the tike of which does not exist in com iimnties the size and age of Monessen. Young people who are ambitious to enter trades haw had the opportunity of a preparation that ijuali-fies them to make a start in life.It is.not at all complimentary to our community to see such a great number of transient labor coining here daily front, all (juartrw to take the positions in the steel mills. There are sous and daughters of the local working men who would iIn anything within reason, make any sacrifice necessary, to get u start in the industries or business places of the home, A trails alt; iit. community is not a eotrmiumty of stability. It takes the homeowners and those loyal workers who have an abiding and permanent interest here to make this community what it ought to be. There must be some emiecrted move made in the interest of our local people am! local people wifi have to make the fight for the places in our business and industrial life.Hass ilays and many happy associationsare over for some two hundred and fifty stu-fP!
