They were laboring under the impression that such a home was located here. They walked as far as Smith• MG-ibb’s place, where rain caused them to seek shelter. They were informed there was no orphan’s home in. this county and they returned to Cartersburg.. While waiting for a car several persons became interested in their story, and aimong them -was Grant Martin. Mr. Martin was struckby the appearance of the child apdafter consulting with his wife hedecided to take the little, girl. The couple refused to tellabout themselves, and Mr. Martin is in the* dark- as tu their identity.
