Diamond Jubilee Of• •aKev. Father LescrecA happy affair occurred at St. Augustine’s Mission on Fridayevening of last week when members of the Roman Catholic clergy from all parts of the north gathered at the close of their annual Re treat to honor Rev. Father Lescrec, of Grouard, on his completion of sixty years in the Priesthood.Father Lescrec, who is 87 years of age, was born in Brittany and he came to northern Alberta straight from the old country in 1884. H is first charge was Dun-vegan. where he worked aijrdngst the Beaver Indians who occupied the whole Peace River Country at that time. During his early years in the north countiy Rev.Fr. Lescrec was associated withRev. F. LeTreste, who made the trip from Fort McMurray toto be in attendance at thisDiamond Jubilee event Rt Rev.Bishop Guy was also present. The sermon on the occasion was preat hed by Rev. Father Robert, of Montreal.
