Alvin L. *A1* TholenAlvin L. “Al” Tholen, 87, Grinnell, died Wednesday, July 29, 2009, at Hays Medical Center.He was bornDec. 14, 1921,in rural Gove County to Theodore J. and Margaret K. (Borens) 'Tholen.He married Theresa Wolf on Sept. 2, 1952, in Grinncll.She preceded him in death in 2007. He was a retired carpenter. He was a LIS, Army Air Force veteran, serving duringWorld War 11.Survivors include a daughter, Denise Wolf, Grainficld; a brother, Lawrence Tholen, Grinnell; and two grandchildren.Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Church, Grinnell; burial in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Grinnell, with military honors.Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at Church Parish Center, Grinnell.A rosary/wake will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the center.Memorials are suggested to Grinnell Wheatland Veteransof Foreign Wars Post No. 2864 in care of Kennedy-Kostcr Funeral Home, Oakley.Lindsey Brooke (Young)LawrenceLindsey Brooke (Young) Lawrence, 33, Ness City, formerly of Hays, died Monday, July 27, 2009, at University of Kansas Medical Center, Kansas City, Kan.She was born June 10, 1976, in Houston to John Young and Beverly Erb.She married John Robert Lawrence on July 31, 2004, in Ridgeway, Colo. She was an interior design consultant.She was a member of United Methodist Church, Ness City.Survivors include her husband, of the home; her mother, Beverly and Stan Erb, Bazinc; her father, John and Glenda Young, Ridgeway; a brother, John Henry Young, Ridgeway; and a sister, Michelle Woydziak, Hoisington.Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at United Methodist Church, Ness City; burial in Bazine Cemetery.
