July 30.—i/P;—Clarence Dampier, 23-yVar-old Negro, was electrocuted early today in the state's portable electric chair here for armed I r j robbery, a capital offense in Mississippi. |i Dampier was convicted of robbing W. W. Shannon, a white resident ^ of Quitman, in a holdup on June 3, 1946. Shannon was struck on the head j r ' with a pistol, and robbed of 541 and his automobile.
