The facts in thecase have already been published and ourreaders are thoroughly conversant withthem. The testimony given by HubbardHerb created a decided flutter among theGee-Johnson party. Herb turned State'sevidence and swore that Sadie Johnson methim at the postoffice prior to the assaultunonwanted to see him. He went to theold Portland House to see Gee and shehired him to carry a note to Belle Youngand tell her that a man wanted to see herdeootSadiewantedorder to do so she wanted Herb to takeYoung out towards the depot in his hackafter dark, and stop near Philander Gregg’sliouso, at * which place Sadie Johnson,iressed as a man, would enter the hackand “get away with” Young. Herbicas to receive twenty-live dol-ars lrom Sadie Gee for hisservices. He delivered the note to Youngand then took her to the place designated,hut Johnson was not there, Herb droveback to the Bing House, let Young outot the hack and then went to the PortlandHouse, where he saw Geo and she toldhim that Johnson had gone to the appointed place. Gee wanted him to go andget Young and take her out towards thedepot again, but he said that he preferredto make sure that Johnson was there beforehe took Young out again. Accordinglyhe drove out alone and found Johnson,dressed as a man. waiting for Young.
