This recalls a similar case here three decades ago when a mother gave birth to a child, put it in a shoe box, wedged it into the fork of a tree in a thicket that now is Birdwell Park, then calmly went back to work. Luckily, children on a hike were attracted to the tiny cries, and the baby was rushed to a nearby hospital, not only surviving, but with gusto (and restored to its mother). Our area got amounts of rain varying from a quarter to three quarters of an inch through Friday, and despite several days with excellent cloud cover, the throttle never locked wide open. The showers, however, were extremely helpful to pastures, and in some areas was enough to almost cinch a cotton crop. Garden and lawns benefitted, but not the cities. They are selling so much less water this summer that it may present financial problems for them.
