Sandusky Regatta race held in perfect weather SaturdayWinds of 15 to 20 miles per hour and plenty of sunshine made for perfect sailing conditions Saturday for the first two of three races held in the Sandusky Bay Regatta.The third and final race of the series will begin Sunday at 9:45 a.m., with trophy presentations set for l p.m., closing out the weekend’s festivities at the Sandusky Sailing Club.In the Tarta 10 category, 11 boats competed, with Matt Koblenzer of SSC finishing first with “Corsair”. Skip Barnes in “Double Trouble” was second, and Dave Disbrow’s “Gotcha” was third. Barnes represents SSC, while Disbrow races out of Vermilion.In the Thistle class, eight boats competed with SSC’s Dennis But-tswinning with “Flo Glo.” Harold Christenson and Doug Wieber, both from SSC, finished second and third.In the Interlake division, a total of 19 boats participated, with John Chiles and Tony Burkhart tying for first place. Third place also resulted in a tie, with Brad Wame and Tim Andres of SSC being even.In the Hobie 16, Les Lashway of SSC was the winner among eight boats, and Steve Spitler of SSC was the winner in Hobie 18, which had six boats competing.Results for the PHRF class were not available.(Register photo - CHRIS CLARK)
