Love in the days before the War Between the States, celebrated his 79th birthday anniversary at Trinity Church in Crowders Mountain township Saturday with several prominent Gastonians attending and taking part in the exercises A sumptuous dinner was served to the l^rge crowd, including many white friends of “Uncle Pete,” and he was the recipient of many gifts especially from the latter. The story says “The aged Negro is aristocratic, walks erect, and shows no sign of old age except his long wrhite beard.”
