Mrs. Thos. Moffat Marks 87th Birthday Two Brothers HereThe home of Mr. Thos. Moffat, retired farmer, church elder, President of the Newcastle Bible Society, and all round good citizen,was the scene of a happy family gathering on Monday evening, June 30th, when about 50 relatives gathered to felicitate him on' the attainment of his 87th birthday. Of special importance was the fact that two of his brothers Mr. Roger Moffat and Mr. Alfred Moffat, were here from Frobisher, Sask., also a nephew, Rev. Alex. Moffat, recently ordained United Church minister, of Frobisher, Sask. Others present were: Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Rickard, Mrs. David Moffat and Blake, Mr. and Mrs. Sheldon, Robert and Will Moffat and families, Orono; Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Allin and daughters, Rev. and Mrs. R. E. Morton and Laurence, Mrs. Norman Pingle and Mrs. Marjerrison, and Mrs. John Lord, Bowmanville; Mrs. Robt. Gray and Mrs. Dave Gray, Newcastle, and Mr. and Mrs. George Walkey, Newtonville. With Rev. R. E. Morton as chairman short speeches were delivered congratulating Mr. Moffat.. Mr. Moffat’s granddaughters. Miss Helen Ly-cett, teacher on Oshawa Public School staff, and Miss Marjorie Lycett, Newcastle, who make their home with him, made ideal hostesses. Refreshments, which all helped to contribute, were served and a jolly social time spent.
