Latshaw farm southwest of Carlisle Tuesday afternoon hot cinders from the trac- ! tion engine set fire to some wheat stubble and the flames spread in the I dry stubble quickly until it had cov- ' ered quite an area of ground. The engine had been set on land belonging to Eli Marquette, adjoining the Latshaw farm, and the separator was set. on the Latshaw land. The Marquette land is being farmed by W. E. Corrum, and before the flames could be checked some thirty shocks ' of wheat had been destroyed, togeth- ! er with about 40 empty sacks. The wheat was owned jointly by Corrum ' and Marquette. The only thing that ‘ saved the remainder of the field was the fact that a water wagon with the outfit had just been filled and the water was used on the fire. The ’separator came near catching butthis was prevented by hard fighting, t The outfit is owned by Boone and 1Seever. It is estimated that 150 1bushels of wheat were burned. !
