She was born i in Monongalia County, in 1865. j f She still has an alert mind and i enjoys visiting with her many p friends and makes her home with j t her daughter, Miss Ethel Shafer. | e Other children of Mrs. Shafer are 11 Mr*. John Spiker, Bruce ton; Mrs.J. E. Gwynn, Kingwood; and Guy C. Shafer of Compton, California. She has seven grandchildren,: 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. jDuring the week, special events were planned in Mrs. Shafer’s honor. A dinner party was held Wednesday evening in' the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Spiker with Mr. and Mrs. William Armstrong and Amy, Mr. and Mrs.J. E. Gwynn, Miss Ethel Shafer, Johnnie Spiker and Mr. and Mrs. j Spiker attending. Thursday evening a birthday cake was presented to her by a granddaughter. Mrs. Hugh Gibson and a surprise party was given for her. Attending were Mrs. Gibson, Hal and Sandra Gibson, Mrs. Claude McGhee, Max McGhee, Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Gwynn and Miss Shafer.
