Belle view Field Light Bids ReadThe low bid among six bids received'at noon Friday by the Steubenville recreation board lor the installation of lighting at the upper ballfield at Belleview Park was nearly $7*000 under the engineer’s estimate for the project.The low bid was submitted by the H. J. Lauris Co. of North Versailles, Pa., at $40,200. The engineer’s estimate was $47,000.Other bids submitted were fr . . iuibdi'ic Co. ofRichmond, $48,030; Murphy Consolidated Industries of Wellsburg, $55,251; Kafton Construction of Follansbee, $04,499; and Tristate Electric of Steubenville, $67,676. Westco of Wheeling submitted a bid of $12,926.72 on fixtures only.The contract is expected to be awarded Monday.The project includes construction of an addition to a storage building to house the power distribution equipment, trenching and installation of power system conducters, poles, fixtures, installation of fixtures, and aiming and testing the lamps.The project will be paid for through a $50,000 federal grant under the ' Community Development Program.The lights may be installed intime for use in a few night games at the end of this year’s softball season.
