ERIN LODGEErin Lodge, iuiy 3i — These items go in with the first delivery of rural mail in Erin Lodge. Our worthy mailman, Lawrence Mc-Gillis was, to put it very mildly, very surprised when almost all of Erin Lodge arrived at his place in a surprise party. Mr. Speakman acted as master of ceremonies and after a suitable speech, christened Mr. McGillis as “Carrier of the Royal Mail” with contents which came from a wine bottle though the writer will not vouch for same. A fancy top hat was then placed on his head with Royal Mail inscribed on it. It was early morning when the party broke up with the singing of “For He’s a Jolly Good Fellow.”Mr. Koch, of Denver, is visiting his daughter, Mrs. Speakman, at present.Although the day was somewhat rainy a very enjoyable sports day was held in Erin Lodge last Saturday. The novelty races provided lots of amusement and the day wound up at midnight after alively danceMagnus Reitzler will challenge anyone in a bean race and Clarence Watchorn remains unbeaten at putting the shot.
