IK THE FIRST HALF-YEAR.Gratifying Record of Maasillon’s Public Library.July 3d marked the close of the first sis months since the opening of the Mc-ClymoDds public library, and the following statistics show in part what has been accomplished during that time:Number of application cards registered, 2,175.Members of Library Association, 394.Books issued for home use, 23,324.Daily average circulation. 155.Books added to the library since January B, GOO.By purchase, 48G.By gift, 114.Total number of books in library,S.100.Magazines on file in reading r«om, 61.Newspapers, 34No record has been kept of the many visitors who have frequented the reading rooms, or of the hundreds of volumes used in the library for reference, or for a few hours’ reading, the statistics of circulation showing merely the uumber of books issued for home reading. The appreciation and use of the library by tbe people of Massillon has been very gratifying, and has made possible the rather unusual record given above. It is hoped that the Massillon library may rightfully take its place as one of themoat progressive in the state, and as aninstitution of which all Massillonians may justly be proud.
