Vircinia, 'June 7, 1766.EST any Perfons inclined to purchafe the1 Lands and Works on Oecoquan River, in Vrmce-William County, late the Property of Mr. John Ballendine, but now in the Tenure of Mr. John Simple, may be deceived in the Title, and to prevent any Pretence of Ignorance of our Right and Claim thereto, we are induced to advife the Public, That there is now of Record in the Secretary’s Office of this Colony, Articles of Agreement made between the faid John Ballendine and Us, for the Conveyance of the faid Lands and Works, which we were forthwith put in Poffeffior of: That the faid SempU knowing of the faid Ar-tides, and their Contents, and of our PcfTcffion, afterwards purchafed the fame of Ballendine, and became pofleffed thereof. In Confeqence of thlt;Articles beforementioned, we have advanced confiderable Sums of Money, being Part of the Con fideration, and are willing to comply with ever) Tittle of our Engagements. We have further tlt; advife, That*the faid Ballendine executed a Dee', fot the Conveyance of the faid Lands and Work: to Mr. James Douglas, Merchant in Dumfries, ant his Heirs, previous to any Sale to Us, or Simple with a Condition mentioned in the fame, whict Condition not being complied with by the fait Batttndine, the faid James Douglas, on the fecont Day of May, 1766, conveyed and affigned ove to us the Fee Simple in the Premiies, and thlt; Deed aforefaid, for a valuable Confideration which Deeds are of Record now in the Count; Court of Prince-William aforefaid. If any wii purchafe of the faid Simple after this Notice, the will do it with their Eyes open, and muft ftand t the CoTifequences, as we are determined to affei our Rights.
