Hundreds Offer To AdoptPAOL1, Ind. (UPI) - “Fire cracker” shouldn’t have anytrouble finding parents.Several hundred adoptionoffers have been made for the baby girl, found Sunday in a paper bag beside a rural road in southern Orange County.Sheriff Clarence B. Switzer said his deputies dubbed thelittle girl “Firecracker” because she was found July 4.Thus far, Switzer and theWelfare Department have been unsuccessful in their search forher parents.The baby was reported instable condition at Orange County Hospital in Paoii, and as news of the infant spreadthrough this region, numerous offers of adoption began ari ivmg.Assuming the patents art- not found, the baby will be placedin a toster chonie until an adoption can be arrangedParry Ladd, 16, and Bill Million, 17. both ol Floyds Knobs, found the baby as they hiked along the Newton StewartKoad near the Patoka RiverThe youths called authorities who took the baby to thehospital.The baby apparently was born late Saturday night or early Sunday morning She was found about 16 hours after birth, medical officials said The abandoned child was found in an area being evacuated to make way for a 10,ooo-acre reservoir.
