MAIL CARRIERS in South Delphi, by the very nature of their positions, are intelligent men. Just how intelligent we never knew until this week when another postal employee brought to outf attention a postal card from the postmaster of Tulsa, Oklahoma, The postmaster at Tulsa was annoyed because someone had written a letter to ‘Tatches” at Vine Street, Delphi, andi had neglected to put the necessary stamp on the letter.• * •NEEDLESS TO say, the other clerks at the Post Office had no idea who “Patches” was but it didn’t take the carrier for Vine street long to say: “Why, that’s the cat at . Raymond High’s house”. Then came to light the fact that the South Delphi residents have for years remembered not only the birthdays and anniversaries of their best friends but also of their best friends’ pets. So it is not at all uncommon for Russ Holmes or whatever carrier happens to be on, to see a letter' addressed to “Jiggs”, South Delphi or “Rover”, South Delphi and know exactly where the letter is to be delivered.
