Fairview United ChuachX-Hold Annual Meeting(By The Gazette’s Correspondent)I-inFairview, Jan. 22.—The annual Congregational meeting of the Fairview United Church was heldlt;y’edl-at the church Monday afternoon Jan. 21st at 2.30, with Rev. J. E. Kirk in the chair and F.Johnston, secretary. Though the attendance was not large due to the extreme cold weather therel-)fnyhnwas a better representation from out-of-town appointments than in former yearrs., Reports were received from all i departments of the church which were very commendable. A-mong the interesting reports received were that of the Sunday Schools. Eight schools were re-^ I ported on the Field. Three Ladi-(j es’ associations reported, each having met its year’s obligations with a substantial surplus on handto begin 1935. The allocation to the Missionary and Maintenance Fund was oversubscril ed and the Church board brought a favorable report.Mr. E. E. Oliver was the rew member elected to the Fairviewi* •ne1Church Board for a term of threeyears. Mr. G. Archibald was ie-elected for a two year term to fill a vacancy and Mr. R. H. Macdonald was re-elected for a threeyear term. Mesrss. F. Johnson W. A. Hemstock and W. P. Loggiev ontinue in office.Mrs. L. A. Shearer, of Hines Creek, left for Edmonton cn Friday, January 18th, for medical treatment. We are sorry to hea’’ that Mrs. Shearer is not enjovinggood health.Mrs Glen, of Hines Cre?k, returned from Edmonton, where she received medical attention, to theilocal hospital.L A. Shearer has been in Fair-view the last week in the capacity of auditor.» IThe local branch of the Legionmet on Fridav, January 18th, forthe annual meeting. A good business session was held and officersof 1934 were re eleded for 1935.E. J. Martin continuing as president, and F. Gardener, of Peace j River, is the guest of Mr. and [Mrs. J. D. Forgie.(AFriday night of last week a good crowd turned out to the whistdrive and dance held bv the£hockev bovs. Cards were played ^,till eleven o’clock, when a boun-i ^ t :ous lunch was served, after whichdancing was enjoyed till about 3o’clock. The winners were, AnnieKeninsky, Opal Fairbairn, Mrs. Brockway, L. Patterson and \\ Vanhcok. The hockey boys werevery pleased with the turnout and jit is thought that about $28.00wall be cdeare 1.Oscar Johnson left for Edmonton Friday to spend a few days.
