OUTRAGE.We have been informed by a citizti of Augusta that on Sunday night, 10th inst., some ruffian or ruffians entered the stable of Mr Levi Moffett, in which were a span of elegant dapple gray horses belonging to Joseph Smith, Jr., and mutilated them in a most shocking manner. The mane* and tail was cut from one horse; one of the ears of the other was cut off and a deadly blow seemed aimed j at its side with a knife which was arrest-! ed bv the ribs of the animal, the gash I* ibeing about six inches long. Mr Smith j had arrived in Augusta, in this county, j that evening, with the intention of obtain-j ing a load of flour at the mill and hauling: it to Nauvoo. The horses were valued at $250. Such a wanton act of barbarity would hardly be tolerated among savages. No provocation could have been sufficient to authorize the perpetration of such an outrage.
