He was not the first baby born in Nocona, but he was the first one born under the rules of tire contest which require that the winner be born to parents either living in Nocona or on a rural route served by the Nocona post-office.The baby's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Wade Harnett, who live on route 3 near Prairie Valley school. Mrs. Barnett is the former Shirley Huddleston.The Barnetts have three other children, Jimmy Wade, 5, Larry Floyd, 3, and Delores Ann 2. The father is a pumper employed by Walsh and W'atts in the North Field.GrandparentsPaternal grandparents of the newcomer are Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Barnett of Nocona and the maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Henry Huddleston of Breck-enridge, formerly of Saint Jo.Last year’s derby winner was Danny Ray Hillard, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bob Hillard, recently of Nocona but now of Gainesville.Merchants and business men who are holding prizes for Donny Carl are Scott Bros., Ben Franklin store, Bluebonnctl shop, Williams Men’s and Boys’ Wear, P and H Super market, Nocona Cash Grocery, McGaughy’s Conoco station, Reddy’s Men’s and Boys’ store, Nocona Floral, Wall Furniture and Appliances, Nocona Independent Lumber company, Ritz and Chief theatres, Frank’s Motor Sales,Jack Lesh Texaco station, Dairy Hut, White Auto store, Parker’s Food store, Mack’s Cleaners, A.
