Rare Old Araa Photos Found . . .Third Son of Robert Campbell, Michael, Best Known; Had Total of 19 ChildrenPart IIBy HELEN H. RUSSELThe third son of Robert Campbell, the one seemingly best known, was Michael Campbell, shown in accompanying photo with a second wife, Hannah.Michael’s first wife was Mary Hostrander, who died on April 15, 1839, leaving behind her 10 motherless children.Living in Liberty, Tioga Coun ty, at about that time was i Mrs. Hannah Beauvier, whom Michael married the following Oct. 28, and brought home to help raise his large family. Hannah had already had five children of her own, all named Beauvier. Then the couple proceeded to have four more, so in time there were 19 children to gather around the table at one time, surely a test for any set of parents!Hannah’s story is interesting. She was a daughter of William Barratt, a native of London, England, and a gunsmith by trade. With his wife, also of London, and their children, he migrated to the United States, settling at Pittsburgh where he followed his trade.His children were Hannah, born in London in 1805; Margaret, Susan, and Rebecca. After the family had settled in Pittsburgh, Hannah was one of the flower girls when that city gave its magnificent welcome to Gen eral Marquis De Lafayette, of France, in May of 1825.Hannah Barrett was married April 7, 1827, to Daniel Monroe Beauvier, who was a teacher and who once taught at Liberty, Pa. He spoke seven languages and was a polished scholar. At Liberty a Felix Costerison was listed as merchant. Mr. Beau vier ran away with a Costerison girl leaving wife Hannah with hemina, who later married Rich-her five young children, Wil-ard Campbell; Cornelius, who married Elizabeth Margaret Duffy; Henrietta, who married a Mr. West; Ann Eliza, who married Sam Naval, and Elizabeth, who later married James Bonnell.Michael Campbell died at Cammal in 1881 at the age of 87 but Hannah outlived him by many years and died 1903 at the ripe age of 98. Michael’s children were Priscilla, second wife of Samuel Tomb, Sarah, Margaret, Hiram, who married Rachel Broughton; Richard, who married Wilhelmina Beauvier; Michael, who married Elsie Tomb; Fannie, who married Jacob Gamble; Mary, who married Lafayette Mansacer: Harriet, who married William Putnam; Cornelia, who married Jerry Black; Enoch, who married Margaret Ellen Ross; Truman, who married Vergie Hostrander. and Mabel Richey, the Rev. The topic of his speech will be, “The Role of the Amateur in Local Party Politics.” His talk will be directed toward the role that organizations such as the Democratic Council can play in American politics.The primary purpose of the Democratic Council are to stimulate more active interest in government, to improve the administration of public affairs, to help maximize social justice and welfare, and to foster and perpetutate the ideals and principles of the Democratic Party.The executive board of the council also voted to take before the council’s membership proposals for policy statementsconcerning the regulation of cable television, the location of the new Williamsport High School, the problem of recreation facilities, including the absence of swimming pools in Wil-lamsport; the proposed county prison, and the problematical practice of campaigning at voting places on election daysMadron also announced plans to invite Vice President Elect Humphrey and other figures of national prominence to the city.Madron also officially announced the appointment of Bert L. Boyd to the executive board of the council. The constitution empowers the president to appoint two members to the executive board in addition to the elected officrs.Boyd, a long-time resident of South Williamsport, has for many years been active in the United Auto Workers Local 787. Boyd is currently is editor of “Lycoming Labor,” the newspaper of the Lycoming County AFL-CIO.Bush Northcentral Chairman For 1965 Heart Fund DriveWILLIAMSPORT - Dr. J. J, Moore, president of the North-central Pennsylvania Heart Association, has announced the appointment of Alvin C. Bush, state assemblyman, as regional chairman for the 1965 heart fund campaign.The region includes Bradford, Lycoming, Sullivan and Tioga Counties.“I am happy to accept for the second year the regional chairmanship of the heart fund campaign.
