Jones for a local pre- t sentation on January 15-16, at the S High School Auditorium. Two even- a irtg performances will be given and s: a matinee performance on the second day. bThe demand for tickets for “The b Birth of a Nation” has been unusual- h ly large. It was at first thought g that an extra matinee could be given t!LEE AND GRANT AT APPOMATO! A NATION,” COMING TO THE HIG MATINEE TUESDAY, JANUARY 16on the opening date, but on account 1 Of the amount of time necessary to install the stage and scenic equipment of the huge spectacle it will not be i given.The same production that has been touring the large cities of the South . will come here. A sixty foot baggage car load of equipment, requir-ing the services of twenty working men on the stage to operate is coming with the spectacle. A special bootlfe 1 with two motor driven Simplex pro- * jodtirig machines, operated by the j companies own mechanicians, is to J be erected in the rear of the theatre. The screen will be placed in such a ^ position that it will be possible for j every auditor to have a perfect vision j of the five thousand scenes that flash 1 before their eyes. jSparta is tho-first small city in this j section to show “The Birth of a Nation,” and it was only through the I untiring efforts of Mr. Jones that ^ it Was made possible. Mr. Jones has ^ gone to great expense to offer this j theatrical attraction to local theatre- I goers and it is hoped that his reward ^ will be generous. The Birth of lt;a Nation” is to bo replaced on the £ road at the close of th present season * by “Intolerance,” and from press j comment and public opinion it is fully I . believed that it is a worthy successor- J - The*' Atlanta Georgian, editorially* speaking, said “Intolerance is by far l the gratest achievement of_the mo- lt;tion picture art.”same orchestra that has been heard ^ in the larger cities will bo heard here. -At the completion of the engagement f in Sparta the company will go to J Milledgeville, Dublin, Charleston, Savannah. and Jacksonville, with a tour of the Florida winter resorts to follow. The prices in Florida will be : two dollars for—t^c best, seats.. The price for the best seats in Sparta is one dollar and one dollar and a -half. At the matinee the best seats are seventy five cents anlt;Tone dollar.Tickets for the three performances are now on sale at the Vardeman's Drug Store.
