MARTIN SETS TALKCity Candidates Are Still ScarceBy DAVID LOPEZ Times Staff WriterCandidates for the April city election are still scarce as neither the Independent Club nor the Reform Party are hurrying to announce their slates.The Independent Club has no immediate plans yet to announce its candidates for th eApril city election. Mayor J. C Martin, party president who i ? scheduled to speak on television tonight, said this morning.“We may not announce our candidates until filing time/' Martin said, “or we may wait until all the candidates announce then do it by endorsement.-'The deadline for filing for the April 5 election is e a rly March, 30 days before the elec tion.Martin says he will speak at 8:30 p. m. tonight on television and radio as president of the Independent Club urging the voters to purchase their poll taxes.
