A Sad Mother.Richmond Palladium.At the breaking? out of the war there lived in Preble County. Ohio, a family, that of the lute Robert F. Thompson. There were five sons enlisted us volunteers in the United State army, three of whom lost their lives, while a fourth was severely wounded and captured by tlio rebels—we mean our late erring brethren. Jas per N., of the Nineteenth Iudiana Battery, was killed at Perry ville, iu October, 1802. Charles H., of the Thirty-fourth Ohio Infantry Volunteers, was killed at Chattanooga In September, 18(53. John B., of the Fiftieth Ohio Infantry, was killed at Franklin, Tenu., in 1804. L. P., of the Thirty-flfthObio Infantry, was severely wounded at the battle of Chickatimtigain September, 1863, and soon afterward paroled. Geo. W.f of the One hundred and tenth Ohio, alone escaped unharmed. One son-in-law of Mr. Thompson (Mr. James L. Mauzy, of the Ninety-fourth O. V. I., was drowned in the Ohio River between Cincinnati and Louisville in October. 1864. and another, Mr. David B. Austin, of‘the Fiftieth O. V. I., lost ids life by the explosion of the Sultana on the Mississippi River in April, 1865, while ou Ins return to hie home. The mother of this ill-fated family, now nearly eighty years of ago, is living In Richmond, still mourning the loss ofher heroes, two of whom lie in obscure, two in unknown graves.
