A third mishap was recorded Jan 2.The first occurred at 1 a.m. behind Jewell’s Recreation o n Highway 8 east. August T. Shim-kus. 18. Rte. 1. told police he had entered the alley behind Jewell's and as he approached the building, his car slid into the corner of the building. He said he could not stop due to the icy conditions. There was minor damage to the building and the front grill and bumperof the Shimkus vehicle was damaged.At 3:42 a m. a second accident was reported on Sutliff St. near Ash St. George Stein. 43, 827 Arbutus St., was backing from a driveway at 213 Sutliff and backed across the street and into a parked car owned by Martin A. Varekois, 113 W. Frederick St., causing damage to the left front door of the parked car.The Jan. 2 mishap occurred at 1:24 p.m. on Brown St. near Harvey St. when Nathan Pence, 60. 48 Lake Julia Rd , was backing up and collided with Dorothy C. Rolain, Rte. 2. Pencesaid he looked both wyas before backing and did not see the Rolain vehicle as it must have been in his blind spot. There was damage to the left rear door and fender of the Rolaincar and none to the Pence vehicle.
