J. Gilley, who is in his first year on the RUHS teaching staff. Gilley previously taught at the Rhinelander Junior High School. Leigh Steinman coached the RUHS squad last season.Hhinelanaer not only is the definding state champion but also hoius mat position in the Northern Ski League. With an outstanding season in 1905. the Hodags swept top honors in the league and the state meet as well as taking first place in the annual Hodag Invitational at Camp 10.There are two returning letter-men back from the 1965 title squad. They are Andy Davis and Carl Reevs, both juniors. Four members lost through graduation included individual state champion Bob Vig, John Davis, Tom Cihla and Bob Far. ris.Five-Meet Schedule.Rhinelander will fill a five-meet schedule. League meets will be held at Hurley, Hayward and Lakeland this year. Once again the Hodags will be the host squad at an invitational and the big state meet will be held at St. Croix Falls. With the exception of the latter event, which is set for Feb. 18. all meets will be held on Saturdays.The Northern Ski League hasbeen expanded this year with the addition of Hayward. Other members teams are Rhinelander, Hurley, Ashland, Lakeland, Washburn and Ironwood. Ofii-cers of the league are President Mike 0‘Brian of Washburn, vice president A1 Novakofski of Lakeland and secretary-treasurer T.J. Gilley of Rhinelander.There are 21 boys on the Hodag squad. By grades, there are three seniors, five juniors, four sophomores and nine freshmen.
