— by BirdieNow that 1972 is off to a rousing start with allthose gala New Year’s Eve parties and a day-longtelevision football spectacular, nearly everybody is planning to spend today getting ready to resume normal school and work-day routines tomorrow. One hundred friends of the Tommy Eckers, the Rex Lem-erts and the Teddy Wagners were guests of the three couples at a private New Year’s Eve party Friday. Entertainment included dancing to a juke box loaded with all the latest tunes, pool and television. Among those on hand were the Dick Frazers, the Dean Campbells, the Joe Pritchards, the Willie Prices, the Joe Ted Davidsons, the Joe Bob MeCartts, the Al Cunninghams, the Bill Sticksels, the Jim Bessel-mans, Bill Grenewalds, George Parrs, the Sim Callahans V, the Maxey Dodsons, the Jay O’Briens andthe Tab Bunkleys.A very special holiday surprise is being shared by three Amarillo ladies. When little Martha Shelton Barrett was born in Dallas on December 23, Mrs. I.C. Thurmond became a great great grandmother. Martha Shelton Houghton is the baby’s proud greatgrandmother and Martha Houghton Garner attainedgrandmother status. Thomas and Martha Caldwell Barrett of Dallas are the parents of the new arrival. Martha Houghton and Martha Garner lost no time in journeying to Dallas to get acquainted with little Martha Barrett. They spent Christmas Day with the Barrett family.An Eternally 29 Party was held Saturday afternoon honoring Mrs. Kearney Edmiston by her mother, Mrs. Henry Blackburn, and her sisters, Mrs. Carter Eustace of Dallas, and Emily Blackburn. The birthday celebration gave friends of the honoree a break from the football routine. Virginia and Henry Blackburn are prolonging their holiday celebration a bit. They’re going to Vail this week with their three daughters and their grandson, Gene Edmiston, for a bit of skiing.Among the holiday festivites was a cocktail party given by Julian and Valerie Bivins, Bill and Susan Grenewald, and Nell Barnhill. The event was held in the Bivins’ home . . . Lucy and Jay O’Brien held open house Christmas Day for their friends. Among those attending were the Paul Fields, the Teddy Wagners and their guest from New York, Stephen Shore,the Julian Bivins, Laurie Allee, Paul Cizon, Teel Bivins, Mark Bivins, Tom Bivins, the William Klingen-smiths, Scott McCartt and Steve McCartt ... OnMonday, an open house was held in the Bob Jolley home. The Jolleys and the Tab Bunkleys were cohosts. Out of town visitors were special guests at the
