New Year babyarrives at VVMHBy GLYNDA WELCH News-Herald StaffYesenia Menchaca arrived at 4 a.m. Tuesday at Val Verde Memorial Hospital to claim the honor of being the first baby born in 1980 in the Del Rio community.Yesenia is the first child of Mr. and Mrs Jose Menchaca Sporting a head ful of black hair, she weighed 6 pounds, 2*2 ounces and is 20 inches long Jose Menchaca is employed by Samuel Sosa Contractors of Houston Arriving just in time to get hisparents a tax exemption, Richard Lee Sanchez, was the last baby born during 1979 Born at 1 29 p.m on Monday, he weighed 6 pounds, 34 ounces and was 19 inches long.Grateful parents are Mr. and Mrs. Lee Sanchez. Sanchez is a General Equivalency Degree instructor at Val Verde County Library, through Southwest Texas Junior College. Mother, Alice, is a licensed vocational nurse at Val Verde Memorial.Richard Lee is their first child.Police investigatecriminal incidentsSeveral criminal mischief incidents and one assault were reported New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day toDel Rio police.Patrolmen responded to an alarm which went off at 12:03 a m today atLee’s Jewelers, 750 S Mam.Upon arrival, the police officers saw that a window on the northwest side of the store had been broken The manager of the store came less than a half hour later and reported that nothing had been taken At 12:10 am today, a resident reported that someone broke two window panes at a building at 309 E.
