Mrs. G. Lara Sigvaldason, former resident of Arborg, was the guest of honor ait a family dinner on Feb. 7th ait the Viking Motor Hotel ait Gimli, Man. on the occasion of her 80thbirthday.There were 45 members of her immediate family present.Wally Johannson, a grandson, acted as master of ceremonies. He read messages of congratulations from children andgrandchildren who were unableto attend. These were from families in British Columbia, Arizona and Madison, Wis.Greetings were also read from the Ardal Lutheran Ladies’ Aid.Her daughter-in-law Mrs.Adalbjorg Sigvaldason, proposed a lovely toast to her. Shespoke of her busy life, her many hobbies, as well as her unselfish devotion to her home and family.A granddaughter, Mrs. Elma Kozub, entertained on the accordion with several old favorites.Wally Johannson also paid her a special tribute on behalf of the grandchildren.Out of town guests included her daughter, Mrs. Geir Sig-undson (Olof) from White Rock, B.C.; her youngest daughter, Margaret and husband Eric Rasmussen from Edgewater, B.C.; also Mrs. Eleanor Fry, a granddaughter from Minneapolis.
