Mercer Jr., a member of Philadelphia, New York and Boston society and one of Bucks County’s most charitable citizens, died at her home,Aldie” Old Dublin pike and N.Main St., yesterday.Mrs. Mercer, the former Martha Dana, was the daughter of the late Charles Stratton and Marie Dana. She was born inthe Back Bay section of Boston, Mass., where she was a member of one of New England’s oldest and most distinguished families.Mrs. Mercer, who was nearly 90 years old, became the bride of William R. Mercer Jr., of Aldie. in Boston, in 1904. Mr. Mercer died Feb. 26, 1939, in Washington, D.C. Because of failing health Mrs. Mercer did not closeand make her home New York for the winter as usual.J1Mrs. Mercer was a member of the Chilton Club, Boston; Cosmopolitan Club, New York, and Acorn Club, Phia. For years she was one of the patronesses at Philadelphia’s exclusive and fashionable Assembly Ball.Widely Known In Bncka Mrs. Mercer, who was widelyknown in Bucks county for her aid in organizing Red Cross and Needlework Guild Groups was an honorary member of the Doyles-town Red Cross and NeedleworkGuild.The Fanny Chapman Memorial Swimming Pool and the WiUianvjjR.
