The subject ofthis notice was born on the Island oflMarthas Vineyard, Nov. 15th, 1801, where, and on Long Island, N. Y., he spent his early days. On arriving at manhood he engaged in farming for a few years, and was commander of a:(boat on the Hudson River for about iseven yeai^. After leaving the river!he again engaged in farming a short i j time, when he removed to Michigan, arriving at Ransom in Sept. 1853 where he bought a farm on which he:has since lived and where he died.I Hu wife died several years ago, since then he has lived with one of his sons. He leaves three sons two residing in Ransom and one at Ypsilauti. 1
