rneron Lewis Is HonoredNEW ORLEANS (AP)-Theron Lewis, the speedster from Southern Uni--/* versity, was honored' Wednesday as the outstanding amateur athlete from the Greater New Orleans area for January.Lewis set a world indoor record for the 440-dash at Albuquerque, N. M., in January when he ran the distance in 47.1.Lewis, whose home is in New Orleans, is practice teaching at the main Southern campus in Baton Rouge. His eligibility as a university athlete has expired and he competes unattached.The monthly awards program is sponsored by John Dibert Post 351,Veterans of Foreign Wars and the selections are made by a committee of sportswriters and sportcasters.Lewis was presented a trophy in a special assembly at Carver HighSchool, where he attended prior to enrolling atSouthern.The most free throws scored in a single sea-
