Rider, second from left, who celebrated his 8Sth birthday anniversary yesterday. Shown with him are, left to right, Joseph Madaffer, host at the meeting, Willard 0. Rider, his son, and Clyde E- Gainey who will be in charge of the next meeting in August.Last Mans clubs of Massillon post No. 221, American Legion, and Massillon post No. 3124, Vet* erans .of Foreign Wars, which meet only on Friday the 13th, held dinner meetings Friday night.The American Legion organization met at the Hacienda with all but two members in attendance and the VFW group at the Oriole club with all but one member present.THE AMERICAN LEGION club also entertained a guest of honor, Harry F. Rider, veteran Massillon druggist, who celebrated his 86th birthday anniversary yesterday. • Rider, father of Willard O. Rider, a member of the club, was presented .with birthday greetings by the group.Dale Derwalt was in charge of the meeting, the first held by the club in the 13ih year since its organization, and turned over to Clyde E. Gainey, who will be in charge of the next session, a bottle of champagne which is to be kept until only one member of the club is alive.After enjoying dinner at the Hacienda, the group went to the residence of Joseph Madaffer, a member, and played cribbage. The champion cribbage player of the evening was George Belch.The two members not presentwere Harold Spuhler who was ill and H. G. Shutts who was unable to come to Massillon from Alliancebecause of driving conditions.* * *LAST NIGHT’S meeting of the VFW club was its. 15th since its organization in 1939.It was in charge of Edward J. Jfunsinger who turned over to E. B. McLaughlin, who will be in charge of the next meeting, the club’s bottle of champagne.The only member not present was William Miggle who was ill. Greetings were sent to him by the other members.. The next meetings of the clubs will be held in August. .
