Scouts Honored At Annual DinnerThe scene was duplicated lednight when about 425 Wilson District Scouters, young and old, gathered at the Ship ’N Shore for then-annual banquet which was combined with a Court of Honor. It was a repeat for many of the parents, who, two nights before, had been in the crowd that packed the sgme rooms for the annual CUb Ban-q*Wiley Lane, District Chairman, again presided over the meeting. Perry Wheeler, Advancements Chairman, conducted the Court of Honor. Plans and preparations for the affair were ably handled by Loring Lemmon, District Scout Executive.Top award for the evening went to Tony Daniel who achieved the Eagle rank in scouting.Two boys were co-winners of the award of most outstanding scout. They were William Hunter and Henry Skinner Jr. Doug Fitzgerald was chosen as the outstanding Explorer. These awards were presented by George Bailey, District Commissioner.Winners in the window display contest were Troop 399, sponsored bv Grace Baptist Church in the scout field and Post 8, sponsored by the First Baptist church in the Exnlorcr field. L. Fitzgerald was awarded the Scouter’s key, top adult Scout award presented last night.Winner of the Advancement Trophy for the third year, thus retiring it, was Troop 115 sponsored the North Wilson Presbyterian urch.Other awards presented last nightfollow:Life Rank: Edwin Fulghum,Troop 6; Jack Perry, Troop 26; BUI Farmer, Troop 210; Archie Whitley, Post 350. These awards were presented by Penn Watson Sr., Vice President of the East Carolina Council.Star Rank: Billy Dixon, Herb Monson and Robert Greene, Troop 10; Ricky Watkins. Stanley Iradi, Dennis Bottoms and Eddie Cockrell, Troop 115; Steve Bradley. Troop 399. These awards were presented by Dr. John Costabile.First Class Rank: Thomas Farris and Paul Grice, Troop 2; Paul Andrews, Willie Bridgers, Wyatt Jones and Wooten Lamm, Troop 6; Larry Griffin, Troop 8; Dennis Riley, Carl Lane and Doug Mercer.
