Years—Arrangements for the Funeral on .Saturday.Stephen Easton, one of the oldest and best known residents of this city, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Stephen Patchell, one mile north of Port Union on tho Princeton.pike, at# 1 o’clock yesterday afternoon in the SIst year of his age Mr. Easton bad. been mnkiug his homo with Ins daughter for over a year. He had been in his uflual health uutil last Friday, when he complained some, but Saturday and Sunday ho was up and about and hud apparently fully recovered. Monday be was again 111 und when a physician was called Tuesday, It was found that Mr. Easton was suffering from typhoid pneumonia. Ho lingered until yeslerday afternoon when he died suddenly while sitting in a chair aud with his daughter’s anil around him.Mr. Easton was horn near Wood a-dale on what is known as Wc.ods-dale island, Kof. 9: 2S10 He was the sou ol Mr. aud Mrs. Samuel Easton, who came here from Kew Jersey. His mother died at the timeof Mr. Easton's birth. HIb father diocl at the ago of 15 yoars. wus buried in what Is now Ludlow park and the remains wore subsequently taken up and re-interred in Greenwood cemetery. After living at Millville about a year, his parents buLli being dead he came to this city and tho Into Major John Tvf. Millikin was appointed a3 his guardian. Ho lived with Major Millikin on the farm for a short time and then wont to Cincinnati where( ho learned the trade of a printer,, .working during the day und soiling papers at night. Nn was there for about four years when lm returned to this city uud took up tho painting trade which lie leyned under old Jssper Snider, whoso shop was on tho cornor of Second and Dayton streets. Ho worked thore lor four years and then formed a partners!)ip in the painting business with Charles Moore, under the firmname of Moure and Easton.Tho lirm continued in business until 1650. Tn the mean time Mr. Easton was employed by Shaffer and TupscoIt, who conducted a pork puckiug business at the west end of Main street. He did ail the killing for the firm while they wore In business.
