She's 100 today!By GILSON WKiUH J Journal - News WriterOXFORD — Mrs. Mary P. Fuson, an Oxford resident for the past 30 years, observes her 100th birthday today.Her daughter, Mrs. Sylvia C. Ferguson, with whom she made her home at 200 W. Church St., was to be hostess at an open tea in Mrs. Fuson's honor at the home Thursday afternoon.In the evening a family dinner honoring Mrs. Fuson will be held at the home. Present will be Mrs. Ferguson, a granddaughter, Mrs. Mary F. Quigg, Dayton, and her husband, Philip Quigg, and their t two children, Eugene Bruce and Barbara Marie, who are Mrs. Fuson’s only grandchildren, and her •brother, Elmer B. Long, and his wife, of Montrose, Iowa.Mrs. Fuson’s husband died in Florida in 1940 and she moved to Oxford three years later. She is a native of Gallatin, Tenn,, the daughter of John and Sarah Elizabeth Huff Long. A son died in infancy. She and her husband lived in Connersville, Ind., until 1919 when they moved to Miami Beach, Fla.Her health is “very good,” the family reports and she participates in a variety of interests.
