I found the worst i Robert King’s editorial entitled “Yanks get richer: baseball gets poorer is a le disgrace to journalistic writing.IC When I read a newspaper editorial, I expect to read the calculated defense of a [)n' writer's opinion supported by factual data and straightforward arguments a Reading King’s article I instead found misrepresentation and irrelevant m' arguments.wn King's argument begins faltering with his fifth paragraph, where he notes a )n campaign contribution Steinbrenner, owner of the Yankees, made to the Nixonne campaign fund I don’t see what King is trying to prove Is he saying that Stein-re. brenner is dishonest and deceitful, so proving the point that his baseballat, aquisitions are bad for baseball9 Why doesn’t King talk about matters relevant,ur to his topic instead of political matters9Deeper in the article King speaks about how the Boston Red Sox develop their Are players through a farm club while the Yankees buy their ballplayers He wantsto make the unknowledgeable readers think the Yankees bought Nettles. Chamblis, Dent, Rivers and Pinella. besides Messersmith and Spencer King should himself read up on subjects he writes about before wasting space in the Texan.
