'Wamesi'l■s%':AMrs. Margaret Burke Has Busy Life And FaithMA busy life and faith in God” is the secret of longevity, says 96-year-old Mrs. Margaret Burke of Obiopyle.Friends and relatives who called on Mrs. Burke when she recently observed her 96th birthday anniversary found that the elderly lady practices what she preaches.Stiver hair curled becomingly and attired in an attractive dress and dainty tea apron, Mrs. Burke helped serve dozens of callers and well-wishers. She answered several telephone messages, read at least a dozen congratulatory telegrams and displayed red roses sent by her grandson, Leroy Mc-D a well, Miami. Fla.Mrs. Burke has led an active life and is well acquainted with work and busy hours.She was horn Dee. 1, 1663 in Allegheny County, I he daughterdaughter, Mrs. Altec Lambie of Kentuck Hill, Ohiopylc. She. is a lifetime member of the Chalk Hill Lutheran Church and still attends regularly.Her daily schedule includes household work, canning vegetables and fruits and sewing, which requites most of her time. She mends,..sews, does fine -stitch work and is currently making handsome aprons for Christmas gifts. Another current project is a hand-make quilt for her granddaughter, Alice Johnson.A hardy soul, Mrs. Burke has suffered no serious illnesses during her 96 years. At the age of 76 she fell in the kitchen of her home and fractured her shoulder. However, after a week in Union-town Hospital she was released and has suffered no ill efcclsof German immigrants, the late Herman aid Mary Uohlf. Mr. Rohlf was a fanner. When Mrs. Burke was a child of 6 the Rohlf family moved to Fayette County where they resided on what is now the Fike Brothers Dairy Farm.She attended Mt. Washington Grade School in Wharton Twp. Atthe age of 22 she married CurtinAndrew Burke, a farmer and limberman. They moved into a home near Bradiloc ks Grave Park, where she resided until 12 years ago. Mr. Burke died in 1923.Mrs. Burke now lives with asince.Her birthday anniversary was highlighted by a family dinner in the borne of a daughter, -Mrs. Emma McDawcll of Mather, followed by an open house event two days later at Mrs. Lambie’s.Her other children are Mary Elt; Yopp of Philadelphia; Lina Irvin, Columbiana, Ohio; John T. Burke, Sarasota Springs, N. Y.; and Charles Henry Burke, Merchanls-ville, N, Y. Three others are deceased; -Mrs. Susan McDawclt, Mrs. Pearl Nelson and Jessie Burke.The elderly celebrant boasts 12-1 descendants, including 34 grandchildren, 87 great grandchildren and 14 great-great grandchildren.
