R. Mott, one of Hammond’s finest women and earliest residents, was her 75th birthday which she celebrated with considerable and unexpected festivity on Aug. 21. The splendid likenessof Mrs. Mott above was taken on her recent birthday when she was the guest of honor at a small luncheon given for her by Mrs. Charles Wilson of Dyer.With the hostess and Mrs. Mott that day were the latter’s granddaughter, Miss Rosemary Wilson; her Western college school friend,Miss Dorothy Lee Baker of Hamilton, Ohio; Mrs. August Schneider and Mrs. T. W. Oberlin.W’hiie that party was in progress, preparations were under way for a family dinner in the evening at the Mott home which the celebrant’s son, Walter Mott, arranged as a surprise for his mother. Guests that evening were Mrs. Mott’s son, Louis Mott, Mrs. Mott and family, Mr. and Mrs. Wilson, Miss Wilson, Miss Baker, Mrs. .Joseph Myers, Buddy Mott of Tulsa, Okla., grandson of Mrs. Mott, Miss Dorothy Nierengarten and Walter Mott.During the informal evening, Mrs. Mott had the pleasure of talking on the phone with her oldest son, Fred Mott, Jr., and his family whocalled her long distance from Tulsa, Okla. Letters came on her birthday from her other son, Bob Mott and his family in Los Angeles and all through the day, Mrs. Mott received gifts and greetings from her relatives and friends with whom she is a special favorite. The day before the actual birthday, some of Mrs. Mott’s family were with her for a dinner at her home at which a cake made by her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Louis Mott, was served to honor her.PARTY FOR BELLATR1X GIRLS ENTERING SCHOOL:Tomorrow afternoon the active members of the Bellatrix club art complimenting those of their number who will soon leave to enter college. The party will be a luncheon and is scheduled to be held at the Woodmar Country club.Miss Dorothea Wiedemann, recently named president of the club for the coming season, is serving a* general chairman of the party.
