I)[t:Service to Negro Youths Told to ClubService to Negro boys and girls by Prentiss Normal and Industrial Institute at Prentiss, Miss., following the ruinous visit to the Gulf Coast last summer of Hurricane Camille was described to Greensburg Kiwan-ians at their meeting in The Keillor Room Tuesday night by Bill Crosby, representative of the institute.A visitor to Greensburg for 20 years in the interest of the Institute, Crosby stated that the,school provided a year’s train-! ing to 288 youngsters. A year later, he said, the Institute has a heavy enrollment of needy1 boys and girls. iIn recent years through funds from friends, he reported, the*Institute has added to its facil-; ities. These include a new library, a new girls’ dormitory and a new cafeteria. The Institute receives no state or fed- i eral funds, he added.Objective of the Institute, as stated by Crosby, is to train under privileged Negro boys andgirls to serve God and theircountry.The business session was in charge of Steve Smith, club president.Planning to enroll at Indiana Central College at Indianapolis, Mark McCreary played the piano accompaniment for clubsinging the final time. He expressed appreciation of providing music at club sessions. Miss Dixie Semon, who will assume the assignment next week, wasintroduced.William E. Whitehall, vice president of the club, stated special emphasis will be placed upon attendance at next week’s club meeting. Richard Mullis spoke on the role of the club in the community.Announcement was made that the club will sponsor the appear-mce of Rubinoff, noted violin-st, at Greensburg Community Sigh School Auditorium on Tues-iay night, Dec. 1.James Champer, general chairman for the project, se-rured a group of volunteers for ipecial committee assignments, t was stated that the violinist vill present a pop concert. 1
