The filled cans, each brimming with 3 gallons of gas, are passed up to the plane by Lloyd Colboch, 30, of Santa Ana.75 MILES AN HOURThe exchange process takes place at about 75 miles an hour. The plane refuels three times daily. The Sunkist Lady is scheduled to land at Fullerton Airport at 11:44 a. m. tomorrow, completing 1008 hours of continuous flying, a new world’s record. The diet was worked out by a prominent Southland physidan especially for this flight, said Richard C. Jewett of Fullerton, one of the owners of Fullerton Air Service which is sponsoring the flight along with the Fullerton Chamber of Commerce and the MacMillian Petroleum Corp.“The boys haven’t been given any water to drinks since theyLUNDBURGtook off 40 days ago. They haven’t had any coffee or tea. They stick to fruit juices and milk.PROBABLE LETDOWN“All their meat is prepared byboiling. No fried meats, no oven-prepared roasts. They both say t hey^feel well. They look sort of tired, though, but then 1 can't say that we can blame them. There probably is something of a psychological let-down au they near they avowed goal.”The two airmen were cheered from the ground by Clyde Schlieper and Wes Carroll, former world's endurance record holders, who stayed aloft for 726 continuous hours in the f.utumn of 1939.Schlieper and Carroll raced alongside the refueling car in their jeep and cheered the grimy but grinning pair in the Sunkist Lady.British FearChina RedsHold SailorsSHANGHAI, April 25.
