DanW. McNeelyDan W. McNeely, 80, died April 14, 2007, at Hospice House, Hutchinson.He was born Feb. 24,1927, in Canute,Okla., the son of Jessie Joe and Pansy Alma Young McNeely He graduated high school from Granite,Okla., received his bachelor’s degree from East Central University, Ada, Okla., and obtained his master’s degree from Peru, Neb., State College. McNeely’s educational career began in 1950, as a business/social studies teacher at Alma High School, Alma, Mo. After two years, he became an accountant at Badger Lumber Co., in Kansas City, Mo. In 1954, McNeely returned to teaching and coaching at Riverton High School, Riverton, Iowa, where he was named principal in 1956. After four years, McNeely moved to Elliott, Iowa, as a high school principal. He served as superintendent in Prescott, Iowa, and Mount Hope. In 1966, McNeely became business manager at Buhler where he was employed for seven years. He joined the administrative staff of Hutchinson in 1973, where his titles have been business manager, director of business affairs, and assistant superintendent for finance.McNeely served as president of KASBO and received the Distinguished Sendee Award in 1987. He sensed in the U.S. Army.On July 11,1950, he married Charlene Smith in Stonewall, Okla. She survives.Other survivors include: two sons, Wayne, Topeka, and Greg, Overland Park; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by a son, Dougjas; and two brothers, Joe and Paul.Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Fairlawn Burial Park. Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Mennon-ite Church, Hutchinson. Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Monday at Heritage Funeral Home and Cremation Services, with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m.Memorials may be sent to the First Mennonite Church, Hospice of Reno County or Good Samaritan, all in care of the funeral home.McNeely
