One of the social events of the season took place at the home of Mr. and Mrs, Win, Taylor last Thusrday. The following is a list of those present, though many were kept away on account of sickness: Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Whitehall of Keithburg, 111., Mrs. Polly Bake and daughter, Mary, of Pontiac, 111,; Ed. Keyt. and wife, 0. C. Dodge ana childem, Fern and Eva; Elijah Mattox, wife and son. Frank; Nicholas Whitehall, wife and daughter; Charles Taylor, wife and children; J. M. Hopkins, and wife of Fountain; Wm. Dodge and wife; Mrs. John Moffit and daughters, Luella and Florence; Mrs. Joseph Riester and daughters, Ella, Grace, Carrie and Alice; Mrs. Mary J. Clark of Keithburg, 111., ]os. Taylor and wife, John Whitehall wife and daughter, Tabitha; Nicie Tanner, Jefferson Brown, wife and -on Fred; Mrs. Victoria Smith, Daniel Flora, wife and daughter, Holace; Wilbur Bethel and daughter, Eva Pearl; and F. M. Dodge. A bountiful table of the best viands of the land was spread and after all had partaken of the feast the time passed quickly in social chats and old pioneer tales, and vocal and instrumental music. The following toasts were responded to, William Taylor acting as toast master: Pioneer speeches by T. Whitehall and Ed. Keyt, telling of the many hardships and good times they passed through in early life and the moving here from North Carolina in carts and ox teams and some of them come on foot. Modern fTimes—Jeff Brown, telling of our advancement as a people since pioneer days. As a parting the old familiar song was sung, “God be wirh you tell we meet again. All seemed to enjoy themselves and all wishing many others such social gatherings in the future.
