City Sewer Study Set Next WeekWooRobert G. Larget, engineer with of environmental protection the kind of application will be submitted in nOctober, 1973. Howard, Needles, Tammen andBeigendoff of Milwaukee, will be inRhinelander next week to check all new sewer lines in the city and set upvaluations on the lines. This is part of asewer system analysis the firm is makingfor the city and is required as part of the data that Rhinelander must file in support of federal aid grants.Larget will be in touch with Frank Rezarch, G.J. Gering and other city officials while he is here.A letter to Mayor Claribel Prosser from John V. Hario, grant-in-aid section, division of environmental protection, Department of Natural Resources, pointed out that under new federal regulations a municipality seeking a federal grant must report to the divisionapplication pending, the month and year of each application for Step 1 or Step 2, the current estimate of cost of theproject, status of environmentalassessment statement, and status of the sewer system analysis and evaluation survey.In reply to Hario, Largent has answered for Rhinelander the data being furnished is tentative and will be updated when significant change becomes apparent, or at the time finalgrant application is submitted.He points out that construction plans for an improved waste disposal sy stem here have been completed and approved by the municipal wastewater section of the DNR Oct. 9, 1972, and that a Step 3“The environmental assessment has 0been authorized and is approximately 70 per cent complete; it is estimated a draft vof the assessment will be available for tstate and EPA review by mid-October. sComments will be resolved and a final acopy if necessary will be submitted by (the end of November. A hearing will be iheld in late November or early jDecember and the record submitted jafter transcription. ^‘The sewer systen analysis has been authorized and is in progress,” Larget 1wrote. (It is this analysis on which he :will be working here next week.) “Completion is anticipated in late November or early December.”
