Martinez Lake Post OfficeDraws Interest of CollectorsThe Yuma Post Office’s fiftharea station will open Monday morning at Martinez Lake Marina, and Marina owner John Bailey says requests for first-day covers have already been received from all over the country.Word of the opening of the station first came from Democratic U.S. Representative Morris K Udall, after Udall was notified by the U.S. Post Office Department.Establishment of the station wiU bring mail facilities to an area which has lacked other than carrier service Bailey, owner-oiorator of the Marina, will receive $400 yearly for his services as clerkFirst-day covers are being accepted at the Marina through Monday, and Eleanor McCoy, Yuma Postmaster, ways the main office in Yuma will accept first-day covers for the Marina station until noon Saturday. All covers will be mailed out Monday, unless a delay in arrival of the cancellation stamp slows processing of the envelopes. J B Bailey Sr will takefirst day covers to Martinez I-ake if they are dropped at his office, 2121 4th Avenue before noon Monday.Mailed will he picked up and delivered once per day by a carrier from the main office. Previously, the nearest postal station had been at Yuma Test Station, some 12 miles from the Marina anil from the An/ona City complex of resorts.
