J., Sept. 27.—There :wae considerable excitement in MAywoodthis afternoon when* a gong of Italiancarpenters from New York began workon a new reeidenoe on Maywood avenue.Constable LouU Oerhard ordered the men to stop work And the foreman attacked him with a hatchet. The constable drew ! his revolver and Marshal Julius Peterman grabbed the foreman.The carpenters then lecarre* defiant and the marshal telephoned|to the dbief of police of Hackensack for assistance. The Italians were rounded up and taken to the town hall, whore Mayor Davoeo after he heard their case reprimanded them and told the ftolice to oecort thorn to the trolley. Thia was done
