J., Sept. 27.—There :wae considerable excitement in MAywoodthis afternoon when* a gong of Italiancarpenters from New York began workon a new reeidenoe on Maywood avenue.Constable LouU Oerhard ordered the men to stop work And the foreman attacked him with a hatchet. The constable drew ! his revolver and Marshal Julius Peterman grabbed the foreman.The carpenters then lecarre* defiant and the marshal telephoned|to the dbief of police of Hackensack for assistance.
