Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Bischoff Married Fifty Years.Ilappy Oceanian Celebrated Last levelling by Many Friends at Residence On South Street.I.ast evening was the fiftieth anniversary of the wedding of Mr. and Mrs. George Bischoff. The worthy couple had planned to celebrate the happy occasion by inviting in a few friends to spend several hours with them at their home, No. f23 South street. Many other friends, however, came to the conclusion that such a momentous occasion was not to go by unnoticed and not long after candle light a host of the members of Zion church and several others came trooping in upon Mr. and Mrs. Bischoff. took them by surprise and the house by storm and proceeded with a celebration appropriateto the golden jubilee. The eveningturned out to he one ofunalloyedmerriment.onepleasure and continued The worthy couple proved most genial hosts, and kept the gay assemblage in a happy Joyful mood all evening. As a token of high regard and esteem the guests presented Mr. Bischoff with a gold-headed cane and Mrs. Bischoff with a gold-headed umbrella. The respected and beloved couple have resided In this city ever since their marriage. They have been staunch members of Zion church of which Mr. Bischoff to-day is deacon and president of the council.George Bischoff was born in Bavaria in May, 1827, and came to this country when a young man. Miss Julia Dewein was born in Germany and came to America early in life.Thirteen children were born as a result of this happy union. Nine are living and four have joined the silent majority. Louis B., William, Albert, Gus, Theodore, and Clara are residents of Burlington, while Julia is a resident of Chicago. Tillie resides in California, and Arthur in Mexico, bix grandchildren were present last evening.A good impromptu program of music was rendered by members of Zion’s choir, after which the guests departed, showering congratulations upon Mr. and Mrs. Bischoff and wishing them many happy years to come.WWW
