Praibie DU Chien Union: Sunday last Col. P. W. Norris opened the large mound near Fame chon’s grist mill, in the . Fourth Ward, and found a large number of Indian skeletons and relics and a fe w: mound builders* tools. Among the Indian relics were a copper kettle silver; crosses, ear bulbs, nose jewelry* breast plates and bracelets, on some of which could be plainly discerned, the words “Montreal, Canada/’ jewelry no doubt given the Indians by the’Brit ish government to gain their friendship The mound builders’ tools found were at the bottom of the monnd and consisted of stone arrow heads, a stone skinning knife* stone perforator and stone scrapen
