Celebrate Anniversary at Wonder Lake HomeMr. and Mrs. Burt S. Davis will celebrate their golden wedding anniversary on Friday at their summer home on Wonder Lake near McHenry. Mr. and Mrs. Davis, who have lived in Oak Park since 1902, have two daughters, Mrs. Fred H. Bones, living now in Parker, SJX and Mrs. George D. Kem-Jer of Sycamore, 11!., and five grandchildren, and are enjoying excellent health.Mr. Davis retired from business with Marshall Field Company Wholesale January 1, 1936, at the age of 69, after 56 years of continuous service, forty-two years spent on the road as traveling salesman. He entered the service of the company in 1880, when it was known as Field, Leiter Company and was lighted yvithgas.At the age of fourteen he wasappointed office boy for Mr. Fieldand came into personal contact j with scores of prominent Chicago-I ans of a generation ago. One of his early tasks was to telephone for Mr. Field, the instrument be-iing a bulky affair with the receiver and transmitter often serving as I the same. Plenty of electric ! shocks added to the hazards of j telephoning.| Mr. Davis’ memories of Mr. Field ! are of a kindly, physically upstand-j ing man of attractive appearance j who would be at home among business men today. Said Mr. Davis, I enjoyed greatly working for him as a boy just as I have enjoyed being with the firm ever since.
